Arrival & Overnight:
You will be greeted and warmly welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After transfer to Eka Hotel, which is located between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport, settle in for a rest from your travels and receive a Welcome Briefing.

Nairobi

Nairobi is named for the Maasai “Enkare Nyirobi”, which translates to "Place of Cool Waters”. And, indeed, the Capital of Kenya can be cool at times. Its temperate climate, so close to the Equator, has earned it the moniker "Green City in the Sun".

Eka Hotel

Eka, a Contemporary Style Hotel, provides all the comfort, convenience, and efficiency to the discerning Traveler. Ideally located along Mombasa Road in Nairobi. Eka is perfectly situated for your morning flight to the Maasai Mara.

With Rich Savannah, Riverine Forests, Lush Woodland, and Natural Springs, the Mara’s incredibly diverse terrain supports a remarkable variety of species.

While there are huge numbers of resident Animals and Birds at all times of the year, these numbers swell during the Great Migration, which has been named on the new list of the Seven Wonders of the World.

*Please note, due to its exclusive and wild nature, experiences for the Great Migration are scheduled at a minimum a year in advance. If you are traveling in the Low Season, Ilkeliani has exceptional prices for Flying Packages.

Ilkeliani, Bespoke Luxury Safari Camp

Ilkeliani is an elegant oasis in the center of the world famous Maasai Mara. The redesigned camp overlooking game-filled plains has stylish new tented suites, a selection of viewing decks, and a wealth of enticing activities. Dedicated to privacy and personal service, the team offers a sophisticated safari experience. The camp is small and intimate with only 12 Ensuite Guest Tents.

At Ilkeliani you can fill your days with activities or enjoy the Camp at leisure. Here guests can do as much or as little as they choose.

Here you will have a Maasai Guide. You can also talk to your Maasai Guide to visit Talek Town to see the “real” modern Maasai life.

In addition to Dawn & Dusk Game Drives, guests at Ilkeliani have the unique option of spending a full day in the Reserve, stopping for lunch at a picturesque viewpoint.

Take a Bush Walk, strolling along the riverbanks, observing the prolific Birdlife, and talk to the Maasai about their medicinal uses of the indigenous plants.

Experience the local culture in a Traditional Village, and learn the people’s unique stories of creation. Ride a horse across the savannah, mingling with the animals as one of them, or float through the sky in a balloon, gazing down on the animals moving within rippling grasses.

Unlike many large Safari Lodges, your schedule at Ilkeliani is your own - flexible and your days designed according to your personal wishes and desires.

Day 4: Nairobi
Fly back to Nairobi and overnight at Eka Hotel. Here we can arrange for you some Nairobi excursions, if you would like. We recommend a tour in town with Mathare Children's Fund Panairobi (MCFP). It´s $20 USD for their project. The money really goes there - 100%. Also highly recommended a tour of Karen Blixen Museum.

If the “Safari Bug” has bitten you exceptionally hard, we can also arrange for you to adventure in Nairobi National Park. Located near Eka Hotel, Narobi National Park is the only National Park located in a Capital City - “The World’s Only Wildlife Capital”!

Days 5 & 6: Amboseli National Park
Drive to Amboseli, by Land Cruiser. On the first day, visit Mutuleu Village, a Maasai Village. You can spend the day here, learning Maasai Life and joining in:

  • Going out with the Cattle

  • Learning to Read Tracks

  • How to use Plants for Medicine

  • Experience Bush Life, such as Natural Fire Starting

It´s also possible to stay there overnight. The Village has Manyattas with bathrooms. A Manyatta is a Maasai or Samburu settlement or compound, often temporary, established by a family or clan, or as an encampment of young warriors. You will get the experience and feeling of how Maasai live with (some!) Modern comforts. The price will be the same as Kilima Camp.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli ‘s often called the “Land of Giants”. Due to the abundance of water, large herds of mighty Elephants roam the park. With Kilimanjaro as the spectacular backdrop, you will be in a Photographer’s Paradise. The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word meaning "Salty Dust".

And indeed, in addition to Zebras and Wildebeests kicking up dust in the setting Sun during their daily intra-Park migrations, each corner turned has an opportunity to see spectacular African Wildlife. Amboseli boasts such African Wildlife as Leopard, Cheetah, Wild dogs (extremely rare & Endangered), Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Lion, Crocodile, Mongoose, Hyrax, Dik- dik, Lesser Kudu, and Nocturnal Porcupine. This is on top of over 600 species of Birds
