Stretching from the Swakop River to southern Angola, Namibia’s Skeleton Coast is known as the 'Land God Made in Anger'. The Coast was named by early European Settlers due to the fact that the entire Coast was covered in an assortment of bones, including Seals, Whales, Dolphins, Hartmann’s Zebra, Seabirds, and Gemsbok. The remains of Shipwrecks makes the Skeleton Coast a Photographer’s Dream.

Activities include:

Beach Lunch

Hoarusib River Excursion

Skeleton Coast Shore Line

Sunset Dune Drive

Namib-Naukluft National Park © Flyga Twiga™ LLC

Day 11

Head out to Namib-Naukluft National Park after another great African Breakfast. Today’s journey takes approximately 6 hours, covering 407 km on Gravel Road. There will be stops along the way to stretch your legs.

Located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic Red Sand Dunes of the Namib. Often called a Sand Sea, the clear Blue Skies contrast with the giant Red Dunes, making this one of the most scenic natural wonders of Africa – a Photographer's Heaven.

As Dead Valley Lodge is located within the National Park, you will be able to capture Dawn’s Ruby Glow an hour before the National Park Gates open. Outside Guests are not allowed into the Park until Sunrise, and then only a limited number. And, as the Park closes at Sunset, in the Evening you can continue Photographing the Dunes, as the Sun peaks back up from below the Horizon.

The Dead Valley’s Main Lodge evokes sophisticated “Desert Chic.” Your Chalet is meant to give a nod to a Desert Nomadic Lifestyle. Meals are prepared by Chefs trained to assist with any Dietary Restrictions or preferences.

Day 12

Head out right before the Sun starts to rise with your Guide to Photograph the towering Red Sand Dunes, rugged Mountain Ranges, and arid Desert Savannahs.

Deadvlei © Flyga Twiga™ LLC

Photographing along the way, you will head from Dead Valley Lodge Excursion for Sossusvlei. Situated in Sossusvlei, Deadvlei means “Dead Marsh” in Afrikaans. Deadvlei contains mummified 900-year-old Acacia Trees. As you have a Private Guide, you may choose on that day whether you would like to go in to see the trees. Take as long as you like for your Photographs.

Please note, the walk to Deadvlei is approximately 45 minutes in. The Desert heats quickly. Please dress accordingly for the 45 minute walk out.

Sesriem Canyon’s located in the heart of the Namib Desert in Namibia. Carved over millions of years by the Tsauchab River, this narrow gorge is a testament to the power of erosion. The name Sesriem comes from the Afrikaans and Dutch words for “six leather straps”. Early pioneers used these tied together to draw water from the deep pools within the Canyon.
