Just donated 10,000 Kenya Airways/KLM Flying Blue Miles to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)!

When living and working in South Sudan, with a Wildlife Conservation Society office in Nairobi, Kenya, I racked up A LOT of Kenya Airway miles. So, I thought now, with the crisis in South Sudan, is a good a time to make a donation.

I chose Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) because of a young nurse from Baltimore, Maryland. We met in the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). She was on her way to the field to work with MSF South Sudan! It was her first time stepping foot on the continent of Africa - a true humanitarian and adventurer!

Médecins Sans Frontières (also known as Doctors Without Borders) "is an international independent medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters."

My Miles will enable MSF teams to go in the field - like the young nurse I met at NBO!

As has been my policy since I began working in East Africa in early 2009, I don't post pictures of people in distress. Instead, to celebrate this donation, I will post a picture I took of a beautiful young twiga at the Giraffe Sanctuary, Karen, Nairobi, Kenya!
